 |
My experience in upstate New York was one of culture shock. Despite the apparent similarities between the USA and other English Language speaking countries, I found upstate New York a very monochromatic culture with many limitations and a lack of vision, for creative solutions. This was made apparent by my observation of a variety of signage located in and around downtown Utica. Much in the same way that the public information posters in Scotland warn against tolerating agressive behaviour, the tone instilled by these signs could be seen as a gauge with which to measure the social climate and prevailant mentality within the USA
