Aeneas Wilder: projects RSA Residencies for Scotland, ESW, Edinburgh, UK.

June, July, August, 2016

Reseach and explopration time spent in the Paolozzi Space at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop as artist in residence, awarded by the Royal Scottish Academy as part of their Residencies for Scotland programme.

The residency period offered the opportunity to process materials - off cuts and extra wood materials from the solo exhibition at the Chateau du Seneffe - and explore the possibilities within the restrictions of the given materials. Central to this reseach was to test out the possibilities for wall to wall free standing structures. Although several wall to wall structures have been successfully installed in galleries, the focus of this residency was to try and expand the potential within this basic system, without the pressure of deadlines or exhibition dates.

All installations were created though the use of complression, balance and gravity alone. No fixings or glues were used in the creation of these works.
