The ministry of truth
mixed media, dimensions variable, 2002
The ministry of truth was developed during a residency period at the Bemis Centre for Contemporary Art. The structure of the installation consists of wooden boxes, originally used as a filing system for an eye glass company working for the US military. The boxes were stacked to create a room with two doorways into the space. The interior was used to file news articles taken from the internet over the two month period of the residency. The intention was to create an archive of objective truths, at a time when many media outlets were promoting untruths.
